5 Classic Wardrobe Essentials

I probably sound like a broken record by now, but I honestly can't help but gush about how much I LOVE my classic pieces! I for one, don't really spend a lot of money on expensive clothing (because most of it goes to my shoes, haha!). However, do believe in investing in classic pieces that will take you season after season and that 10+ years from now will still be in style. So, I decided to share with you all my top 5 classic wardrobe essentials that you should have (and that you really shouldn't feel bad about splurging on).

SHOP THE POST:
1. THE TRENCH COAT
I really won't go into much detail as I've already done a post on trench coats, but believe me when I say that it will take you places. Literally. Whether you are going to work, going out for brunch, or even that morning coffee run, the classic trench coat is able to transcend throughout all lifestyles for a look that is pulled together, even when you are wearing joggers and sneakers to the airport!

2. GOOD PAIR OF JEANS
To build a classic outfit, one of the key elements is a good pair of jeans. If you invest in good-quality denim, you will 99.9% get your money's worth. I don't know about you guys, but I practically live in denim. I can dress it up, dress it down. Either way I wear it, it just works. I am my most confident in jeans and to me, that is priceless.

3. TIMELESS SUNNIES
I used to never be the type of person that spent a lot of money on sunglasses, but here I am. Sunglasses are the perfect way to change up a look and while I wouldn't suggest only buying designer glasses from now on, you really can tell difference in quality. I decided to splurge on these Céline (R.I.P.) sunglasses a few weeks before my birthday as a treat. Seeing as how the house has drastically changed since the glorious days of Phoebe Philo (I'm still salty about that...if you couldn't tell.), I know that I will have it for years to come.

4. CHIC LOAFERS
These Gucci Princetown mules are by far the best investment I have ever made. They were the first pair of designer shoes that I purchased with my first 'big-girl' job and they do have a special place in my heart. I remember going into the Gucci store, committed on spending almost my entire paycheck at that time, and feeling a rush of incredible happiness. Out of the two years that I've had them (you can see their blog debut in this post), I am almost 100% certain I've worn them at least 100 times. They are so comfortable, classic and so, so worth it!

5. THE WHITE BUTTON-UP
Last but not least, this would not be an Ingénue post without some mention of a white shirt. I bought this linen button-up (also, is it button-up or button-down?) last season and while I thought I would only be able to use it during summer, it has made its way to my fall wardrobe. I can throw it under a chunky sweater for a layered look, wear it tied up on the weekends, or even tucked under a pair of trousers for work. Needless to say, it is a piece of clothing that you should have on your closet!
